About this book
To Remember Charlie By is a book by Roger D. Aycock. A teaser says there are those among us whose simple faith can, and often does, alter the scheme of the universe, and that even a little child can do it. A tagline mentions a one-eyed dog named Charlie and a boy named Joey who, between them, changed the face of the universe, perhaps.
The narrator, who lives in a trailer with Doc Shull, nearly stumbled over the kid in the dark; the kid's wheelchair was parked as usual on a strip of carpet grass that separated his mother's trailer from theirs. When the narrator asks what he is looking for up there, Joey answers softly, "I'm moving some stars." The text describes a boy who was just like any other ten-year-old, full of curiosity and the devil, with no more power to move things by staring at them than anybody else had.
