About this book
Toledo is a historical and descriptive account of the City of Generations, accompanied by illustrations. The architectural discussion describes several churches as mixing Christian and Saracenic styles, including churches that had not originally been mosques. The church of San Román is described as a former Mohammedan temple remodelled for Christian worship, with a Mudejar tower or steeple added by Esteban Illán.
The steeple’s description specifies rough stone and brick, a warm brown tone, and an exterior quite plain for more than half its height. The illustration list includes courtyard details and views, façades, a principal staircase, a court and a plan of the Alcazar.
