About this book
The Story of Verona discusses uncertainty about when Verona received the privileges of Roman citizenship, even though those privileges had been granted to Transpadane Gaul. The account describes Verona as an important town in the early Roman Empire and attributes that importance chiefly to geographical position. The discussion of roads says that several great highways met at the town and that principal routes through northern Italy and into Germany passed through its streets.
The account of Cavazzola says that nearly all his work is in Verona, with two examples in the National Gallery and another at Dresden. The discussion of Liberale's pupils identifies Francesco Bonsignori, also called Francesco da Verona, as one of the first and gives his birthplace as Verona.
