About this book
True to His Home, A Tale of the Boyhood of Franklin, is by Hezekiah Butterworth. The text says that the tallow chandler, as poor as he was, was hospitable on that day. The text describes the house in which Franklin was born, with its front rudely clapboarded and one room only on the lower floor of the main house, about twenty feet square.
The mother asks whether a spinet would be rather out of place in a candle shop, and Jenny answers that it would not be out of place in the parlor of a candle shop. The text says that someone had promoted the scheme for uniting the colonies and had signed the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of the Alliance with France and the Treaty of Peace between England and the United States, and that there remains yet one paper to sign, a will.
