About this book

Stanley Featherstonehaugh Ukridge is one of Wodehouse's great comic creations: a loud, cheerful, chronically broke schemer forever certain that his next big idea will make his fortune. A dog college, an accident insurance syndicate, a plan to launch a boxer, each scheme is grander and more doomed than the last, and each leaves his patient friend Corky footing the bill. This collection gathers the stories that follow Ukridge from one glorious collapse to the next, narrated by Corky with weary affection. There is no cruelty in the comedy, only the pleasure of watching a hopeless optimist bounce straight back. Wit, energy, and perfect timing run through all of it.
