About this book
Under the Window by Kate Greenaway is a book of short verses, and its contents page lists them by first line. They include a garden where sweet flowers grow, a tea invitation from Phillis to Belinda, three tabbies who take their cats to tea, five little sisters walking in a row, geese that go out walking to breakfast and to dine, and shuttlecocks that go up and come down again.
One verse asks the way to Somewhere Town and answers that the round red sun is the door. Another has three little girls sitting on a rail on a fine hot day in September, talking about the crows and the corn. In one verse a bell is tolled for Poor Dicky, and in another bells are rung to bid sirs good morning.
