Voyage of the Paper Canoe is the 1878 narrative of Nathaniel Holmes Bishop (1837-1902), who paddled some two thousand miles from Quebec to the Gulf of Mexico, much of it in a remarkable canoe built of paper. Bishop describes the rivers, coasts, and people of the eastern seaboard from a waterline view few had taken, in one of the classics of early American small-boat adventure. The paper canoe itself made the trip a sensation. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
