The alarm clock not only rings chimes of amazing penetrating power but also turns on all the lights in the room, closes the window, and starts the bath water running.

The text says that during the fourteen years the Rocket Research Station had been in operation, parties were held every time another test flight resulted in failure. Dr. Brinton had attended every one of the scores of parties during every one of the fourteen years, first as chief chemist and later as director of the Station. Dr. Brinton says that he is now out of a job and wants to celebrate, suggesting some serious drinking if there are no more questions.
