About this book
Woman, by Magdeleine Marx, comes with an introduction by Henri Barbusse and a translation by Adele Szold Seltzer. The contents list the parts BOOK I Being Born, BOOK II Being and BOOK III Becoming. The introduction calls the work a splendid book in which a soul lives so profoundly human and so purely feminine.
A first-person voice says that its life is a need to use the muscles, vigorous movement, and adds that it is not quite twenty. The voice recalls that he once lay hidden in a warm womb and was carried, and says it is in a hurry for him to grow up and be able to listen. A storm is described, with the rain coming down in sheets and rebounding in mist.
