About this book
Wulfric the Weapon Thane is a book by Charles W. Whistler, with the subtitle “A Story of the Danish Conquest of East Anglia.” The contents, among other chapters, list ones headed “HOW LODBROK THE DANE CAME TO REEDHAM,” “THE SONG OF THE BOSHAM BELL” and “HOW WULFRIC BROUGHT OSRITHA HOME.” A first-person speaker says his father held out his hand, whistling a falconer's call, and the great bird flew to him, and perched on his wrist. A speaker describes a boat as most beautiful, built on such lines as no Saxon boat had.
Hubba says to Wulfric that he believes him, “for I know a true man when I see him.” A speaker calls a fight at close quarters “the sternest fight I have ever seen,” and describes a creeping sea fog that settled down on them.
