📚 1 Book ✍️ Biology 📄 PDF & EPUB

Andrew Lam is a retina surgeon in Springfield, Massachusetts, who teaches ophthalmology at UMass and writes history on the side. The Masters of Medicine, published by BenBella in April 2023, takes seven conditions and follows the moment each stopped being untreatable, spending most of its length on the people who managed it and on how badly the profession treated several of them at the time. His earlier books are Saving Sight, about his own field, and Two Sons of China, a novel of Americans fighting alongside Communist guerrillas in the Second World War. He read at Yale and took his medical degree at Pennsylvania. He is not the Andrew Lam who writes essays on the Vietnamese diaspora.
