Bruce Kayton connects political history with the streets where organizing, protest, and community life unfolded. Radical Walking Tours of New York City presents thirteen routes through neighborhoods including the Lower East Side, Greenwich Village, Harlem, and the Financial District. The walks recover locations associated with abolition, labor struggles, civil rights, feminism, and campaigns for social justice, treating buildings and corners as evidence of collective action rather than decorative landmarks. A political activist for more than three decades, Kayton has discussed radical history on NPR, WNYC, WBAI, and other public programs. Teaching roles include the New School and the Jewish Radical Education Project. Seven Stories Press issued the third edition of Radical Walking Tours of New York City in 2016, expanding a guide first published in 1988. Kayton’s approach is practical and place-based: readers follow mapped routes while encountering the people, organizations, newspapers, strikes, and meeting halls that made New York a recurring center of dissent.
