Clara Bensen
Clara Bensen is an Austin-based writer whose first book grew from an essay about an unconventional journey with a new partner. No Baggage recounts a three-week trip through eight countries undertaken without hotel reservations, an itinerary, or luggage. Running Press published the memoir in 2016 after the original account attracted international attention. Bensen frames the trip as both travel writing and an examination of trust, uncertainty, and recovery from a difficult period in her life. The book's deliberately light packing becomes a structural idea as well as a practical experiment. No Baggage places the developing relationship alongside unfamiliar cities and improvised decisions, giving Bensen's debut a clear position between memoir, travelogue, and contemporary relationship writing.
