This is Elaine Fox the psychologist rather than the American romance novelist of the same name. Rainy Brain, Sunny Brain sets out the research on why some people default towards threat and others towards reward, the fear and pleasure circuitry underneath that, and what proportion of the setting is inherited against what can be shifted by training. She ran a research centre at Essex and now works at Oxford on cognitive bias and resilience. She is careful about the limits of the training evidence, which the popular retellings of this material almost never are.
