📚 1 Book ✍️ American Classics 📄 PDF & EPUB

Eliza Calvert Hall was the pen name of Eliza Caroline "Lida" Calvert Obenchain (1856-1935), born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and later settled in Texas, where she died. Her first poems ran in Scribner's Monthly in 1879, and in 1900 Laura Clay appointed her press superintendent for Kentucky suffrage work; she placed more than 500 articles in Kentucky newspapers during 1901 alone, and nearly 2,000 syndicated pieces and pamphlets in 1905. The Aunt Jane stories, gathered in 1907 and continued in The Land of Long Ago (1909), made her known nationally. She also wrote A Book of Hand-Woven Coverlets (1912), an early study of American coverlet weaving.
