📚 1 Book ✍️ 20th Century 📄 PDF & EPUB

Sara Ware Bassett (1872-1968) was born in Newton, Massachusetts, taught kindergarten in the town's public schools, and built a long career out of the New England she knew, publishing more than forty novels from her 1907 debut into the late 1950s. She is remembered chiefly for her Cape Cod books, most of them set in the invented villages of Belleport and Wilton, which pair gentle romance with affectionate comedy about small-town eccentrics. She also wrote the Invention series for young readers, stories built around how familiar things get made, among them Paul and the Printing Press and Ted and the Telephone. Two of her novels reached the screen: The Taming of Zenas Henry as Captain Hurricane (1935) and The Harbor Road as Danger Ahead (1921).
