Erica Lindquist
Erica Lindquist collaborates with Aron Christensen on speculative fiction shaped by altered identities, political power, and invented worlds. In the House of Five Dragons follows Rikard Mazrem, who returns thirty years after sacrificing his former life to save his soldiers. He discovers that an empire now reveres him as a hero, although neither the changed world nor Rikard himself matches the remembered version. Both Lindquist and Christensen share the byline on this 2010 fantasy. Lindquist has described the novel as her second book and its central craft challenge: surrounding a telepathic protagonist with opponents who need to conceal their plans. She and Christensen first shared their fiction online before moving to independent editions. In the House of Five Dragons shows Erica Lindquist working collaboratively on a large-scale fantasy of memory, return, and political consequence, using Rikard’s dislocation to question whether heroic reputation can survive contact with the person who inspired it.
