Frances E. Jensen

Jensen chairs neurology at the University of Pennsylvania and wrote The Teenage Brain after raising two teenage sons and realising the research existed but had never reached parents. The core finding is that the prefrontal cortex is still being wired well into the twenties while the reward systems already run at full strength, which explains a good deal about risk, sleep, and the effect of alcohol and cannabis at that age. She is careful that this explains the behaviour rather than excusing it.
