Gregory Funaro brings his background in acting and theatre education to fantasy for younger readers. He taught theatre at East Carolina University before becoming professor emeritus. Disney-Hyperion published Alistair Grim’s Odditorium in 2015. The novel follows an orphan named Grubb into a mysterious London building filled with magical and mechanical wonders, and it began Funaro’s Alistair Grim series. Watch Hollow, published by HarperCollins in 2019, opened another sequence around Lucy and Oliver Tinker. Their father is hired to repair the clock inside Blackford House, where the children encounter magical clock animals. That book was a Junior Library Guild selection.
