J.N. Chaney

J.N. Chaney works with military veteran and science-fiction writer Jonathan P. Brazee on An Uneasy Alliance, the fourth novel in their Sentenced to War sequence. Variant Publications released it in 2021. The book returns to Staff Sergeant Rev Pelletier after the Centaur conflict. Peace has changed his assignment rather than ended his service: Rev joins the Home Guard, a force assembled from rival human militaries while alien technology, criminal networks, and political distrust threaten cooperation. Chaney and Brazee use that new unit to shift the series from open war toward exploration, treaties, and tension between empires. The collaboration joins Chaney's extensive space-opera publishing with Brazee's military background and shared attention to squad-level loyalties. Jeffrey Kafer narrates the audio edition, which identifies both writers and the series position in its full billing. For readers following Rev's career, this installment bridges an enemy already defeated and a less visible conflict that the new alliance may not be strong enough to contain.
