Author: Jake Knapp

Make Time (2018) is a productivity book by two designers, not by researchers. Jake Knapp wrote it with John Zeratsky, his colleague at Google Ventures. Knapp had developed the design sprint inside Google from 2010 and brought the method across when he joined GV in 2012, setting it out with Zeratsky and Braden Kowitz in Sprint (2016). He spent roughly a decade at Google and Google Ventures, working on Gmail and on Hangouts. What this book offers is smaller than a system: pick one Highlight for the day, defend the attention it needs, look after your energy, and note at night what actually worked. The tactics come from the pair's own trials rather than from clinical evidence, and the two now run the venture firm Character, where sprint work is part of the business.
