James B. Hendryx
James Beardsley Hendryx (1880-1963) was an American writer of popular Western and Northern adventure fiction. Born in Minnesota, he set many of his stories in the Canadian Northwest, Alaska, and the mining frontier, drawing on the cold-country settings that became his trademark. He created recurring characters such as the Mounted Police officer Corporal Downey and the roguish Black John of Halfaday Creek, and he wrote prolifically for pulp and general-interest magazines through the first half of the twentieth century.
