Reckoning: A Memoir follows her childhood in suburban Melbourne, the development of her comic career, her public life, and the difficult family history carried by her Polish father. Text Publishing released it in 2015, and Szubanski combines personal recollection with an investigation of wartime memory, identity, belonging, and the stories families keep from one another.
