Theresa Carle-Sanders is a professional cook and recipe writer who builds cookbooks from close reading of fiction. Outlander Kitchen translates foods and scenes from Diana Gabaldon's Outlander novels into more than one hundred recipes adapted for contemporary kitchens. Delacorte Press published the cookbook in 2016, and Gabaldon contributed the foreword, establishing it as an official companion to the series. Carle-Sanders developed the project after culinary school, combining her training with a long-standing interest in the novels and in historical food. Her work ranges from Scottish dishes to recipes connected with the books' French and North American settings. She later expanded the concept in a second Outlander volume and created Castle Rock Kitchen from Stephen King's Maine stories. Across those projects, literary research determines the recipe selection, while her culinary experience turns narrative detail into workable instructions.
