About this book

Amy Bell Marlowe wrote A Little Miss Nobody, subtitled With the Girls of Pinewood Hall. The principal says to Nancy Nelson, "I call this downright ingratitude," and the girl wails, "Who furnishes the money? Why do they furnish it?" In a chapter called The Boy in the Millrace, Nancy had been graduated with some honor, but there was nobody to rejoice with her over her success.

Nancy waits a minute to see if she is observed and tosses a bag into a clump of bushes not far from her window; she believes nobody had seen her. Corinne Pevay greets Nancy Nelson with "Hullo, Nancy Nelson!" Nancy asks Scorch whether a place is the hotel, and the boy says he asked among the cabmen at the station and they all saw you and the gray man.
