About this book

After a Few Words, by Randall Garrett, calls itself a science-fiction story. The opening says that history is a science, while the other part is, as all Americans know, the most fictional field we have today. Sir Robert de Bouain rides with the Norman and English troops, just behind the men of Poitou, and sees the banner of Richard of England to his right.

A voice says that the party is three days out from Acre and the accursed Saracens still elude us. Sir Robert shouts Forward for St. George and for England, and the Gascon echoes St. George and England. Robert takes off his helmet and blinks to adjust his eyes to the relative dimness of the studio, and one of the two producers of the show asks how he liked it.
