About this book
By Honour Bound is a school story for girls by Bessie Marchant. The contents list gives chapter titles such as What Dorothy Saw, A Shock and Pride of Place, among others. Dorothy goes over with Margaret, while Hazel and Tom stay behind to sort out the luggage. A stout girl with flaming red hair says that Rhoda Fleming has come back and is going to stay another year, so that she can have a chance at the Mutton Bone.
Tom pleads for five shillings and offers a couple of shillings for interest when he pays it back, and the person he pleads with cries 'How can you be so horrid, Tom?' in great distress and says she knows he has been gambling. Miss Mordaunt comes towards them holding Dorothy, to whom Cissie clings with the fierce clutch of despair. Hazel says they can pass Dorothy along, with Cissie clinging to her.
