About this book
Dynevor Terrace, or The Clue of Life, is by Charlotte M. Yonge. The contents list, among others, Charlotte, An Old Schoolmistress, Louis le Debonnaire, and Thistle-Down.
The text says Catharine Dynevor had begun life with little prospect of spending nearly half of it as mistress of a school, and that her father was the last male of the Dynevors of Cheveleigh. A scene has Lady Conway say it is quite shocking to have to introduce herself, and Louis cry “My aunt!” with eager delight. One speaker says, “Charlotte tells me you led her straight over the barricades, with cannon firing on you all the time!”
