About this book
The Pygmy Planet is by Jack Williamson, with the line Down into the infinitely small goes Larry on his mission to the Pygmy Planet. Larry Manahan, sitting behind his desk at the advertising agency which employed his services, says the only adventure he knows is what he sees in the movies, or reads about in magazines. Larry knew the girl as the secretary and laboratory assistant of Dr. Travis Whiting, a retired college professor known for his work on the structure of the atom.
Larry stared at the telephone for a few seconds, then rose abruptly to his feet, crammed his hat on his head, and started for the door. A man crossing the floor of the laboratory toward a toy plane under the table is awed by the immensity of his surroundings, where the walls of the room seem distant, Cyclopean cliffs and the roof is like a sky. On the morning of the ninth, a group comes in view of the green line of the ancient canal.
