About this book
Eight or Nine Wise Words about Letter-Writing is by Lewis Carroll and was first published in 1890. The contents list sections on stamp-cases, how to begin a letter, how to go on with a letter, how to end a letter and registering correspondence. The section On Stamp-Cases says that Postage-Stamp-Cases may be divided into one species, the Wonderland.
The writer says that each of the pockets will hold 6 stamps, comfortably, and recommends arranging the 6 something like a bouquet. The section How to begin a Letter says that, if the Letter is to be in answer to another, one should begin by getting out that other letter and reading it through. The writer gives a few simple Rules for making, and keeping, a Letter-Register, and says to get a blank book, containing (say) 200 leaves, about 4 inches wide and 7 high.
