About this book
Flora, or Self-Deception, is a book by A. L. O. E. The contents list names chapters titled Town and country, The village and Confession, among others. Ada urges Flora to go back with her to London.
Flora replies that it would be impossible for her to quit home just now, when they are expecting her sister-in-law from Barbadoes. Mrs. Vernon, in her own quiet apartment, opens the first volume of the work of Sir Amery and soon becomes strongly interested both in the characters and the plot. Sir Amery describes his hero as distinguished by birth, but yet more by exalted talents, generous, humane, chivalrous and constant, possessing every virtue but piety.
