About this book
The Triumph over Midian is by A. L. O. E. The preface says the writer is attempting to illustrate the history of the victory of Gideon and is conscious of entering on well-trodden ground. The preface calls its task humble, that of endeavouring to show that the same faith by which heroes of old out of weakness were made strong.
A passage says Isa knew that she ought to endeavour, by self-denying kindness, to strengthen her influence over Gaspar. The text says Cora Madden chose to regard the conduct of Isa, as well as that of Gaspar, as the result of interested calculation. Gideon exclaims that if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us.
