About this book
Honorine is credited to Honoré de Balzac, Translated by Clara Bell. The dedication is To Monsieur Achille Deveria, An affectionate remembrance from the Author. The text says If the French have as great an aversion for traveling as the English have a propensity for it, both English and French have perhaps sufficient reasons. The text describes a diplomate, a man of four-and-thirty, who had been married about six years, as the living portrait of Lord Byron.
The text calls Onorina Pedrotti the only child of a banker without heirs male. Madame Gobain announced to her mistress, as a disastrous piece of news, the intention, expressed by an eccentric creature who had become her neighbor, of building a wall between the two gardens, at the end of the year. A speaker says When I moved to Genoa I received a formal announcement of the happy event of the birth of a son to the Count and Countess.
