About this book
In Greek Waters is a story of the Grecian War of Independence (1821-1827) by G. A. Henty. The preface says the struggle known as the Greek War of Independence lasted for six years (1821-27), and that the story is confined to the principal incidents of the first two years of the war. A scene shows Horace greeting his father, who says he is glad to hear that Marco has found just the boat that he thinks will suit the place.
A man who gives his name as Alexis, of this village, says he has a brother at Adalia and is sure the brother will be glad to lodge the people he is speaking to. The text describes a small house with but two rooms whose master was a cobbler. A speaker in the text says that Tarleton proposed that they should disguise the schooner and go up themselves, and admitted that the betting was a hundred to one against their being able to help.
