About this book
Let There Be Light by H. B. Fyfe is introduced with the line No matter what the future, one factor must always be reckoned with, the ingenuity of the human animal. Two men attack a thick tree trunk with axes while Blackie stands nearby on the gravel shoulder of the highway. A character named Mike boasts Pretty soon, now, eyeing the cut with satisfaction, and Blackie answers Sure to the question Think it'll bring them?
The text describes robots that precisely severed the part of the tree that blocked the highway, going not one inch beyond the gravel shoulder, and helped the bulldozers to tug it aside. Sid sighs Look at 'em go! and says Took us hours, an' they're half done already. A girl tells Blackie that it burns real good, wrinkling her nose against the first oily smoke.
