About this book

This early adventure returns to the youth of Maurice Leblanc's gentleman burglar, showing how a young Raoul d'Andresy first became Arsene Lupin. Translated by Alexander Teixeira de Mattos from the French "La Comtesse de Cagliostro," it pits him against Josephine Balsamo, a bewitching woman who claims descent from the sorcerer Cagliostro and seems never to age. The two fall into a dangerous love affair while racing each other toward a fabulous hidden fortune. Leblanc fills the chase with disguises, narrow escapes, and the wit that made his thief the French answer to Sherlock Holmes, and readers meet a Lupin still learning his craft. Enjoy it as a free PDF and EPUB edition.
