About this book
More Beetles, by Jean-Henri Fabre, has a Chapter I headed The Cetoniæ. The text describes a long, wide lilac-walk that becomes a chapel when May is here and the two rows of bushes, bending beneath their load of clustering blooms, form pointed arches overhead.
The text calls a heap of garden rubbish and dead leaves a compost-factory which supplies the needs of the author's potted plants. The text says that Wolf does not eat Wolf is a proverb, and that the larva of the Stinking Staphylinus gives the lie to it. The text says that for three or four days the author's captives betray great excitement at nightfall. The text describes a wire cage with chips of old willow-wood for a refuge and figs, pears and other fruits for food.
