About this book
The book is titled Out with Gun and Camera, or The Boy Hunters in the Mountains. The contents list names, among others, A Lesson in Photography, Something About a Lion, and Into the Rapids. One scene says that Ham Spink and his cohorts closed in, that Snap and Shep were caught, front and back, and that several blows were quickly exchanged.
Will Caslette calls out to let up, and Frank comes with him, and each catches one of the Spink faction by the arm and swings him backward. Shep tells the boys to save their wind, saying they have a long and hard climb before them. The text says the boys took some time to skin the dead bear and cut away such meat as they thought they could tote along, and that the rest of the meat they hung in a tree.
