About this book

Peggy in Toyland is by Archibald Marshall, and the title page says it is illustrated by Helen M. Barton. A dedication offers the story to Kathleen Ann and says it was begun for her mother, Kathleen Noel. The contents list names, among others, chapters called The Royal Ark and the Bad Behaviour of Wooden’s Aunt, King Selim Holds an Audience and The Battle.

Mr. Emma, who seemed not to be in quite such a good temper as before, came into the room and told Colonel Jim that he had been there quite long enough. The text introduces another of Peggy’s dolls, Lady Grace, who came on Peggy’s eighth birthday and was really a beautiful doll, as everybody who saw her bore witness. A speaker says of the King that there is a good deal of thoughtfulness in his nature, though he is apt to be a little irritable after meals.
