About this book
The book is titled Prayers and Meditations and is by Bahá'u'lláh. A speaker says that with a stammering tongue he calls upon God, and with an afflicted pen occupies himself in remembrance of the name. Numbered entries are headed by their opening words, and one numbered VII is headed Praise be to Thee, O Lord my God! I beseech Thee.
The text speaks of Thy servants who, for love of Thy beauty, have forsaken their homes, and who have sundered every tie in Thy path. A numbered entry, CLXXXIII, directs whoso wisheth to recite the prayer to stand up and turn unto God and gaze to the right and to the left.
