About this book
Riders of the Silences, by Max Brand, has a contents list that names, among others, the chapters "The Thunderbolt", "Irene" and "The Launching of The Bolt". A frontispiece line reads, "Each one of them should have ridden alone to be properly appreciated." Father Victor sits straight and stiff with stern, set lips and says dryly that "Father Anthony has been much in the world."
A modest novice in a simple gown of black serge appears when the door opens. A mighty sickness overwhelms McGuire, and he whispers, "You're Red Pierre?" A speaker says to Mary, "since I saw you, Mary, I am not as strong as I once was."
