About this book

Rollo in Scotland is by Jacob Abbott and was published in Boston in 1864. A list of principal persons names Rollo, twelve years of age, Mr. and Mrs. Holiday, his father and mother, his younger brother Thanny, his cousin Jane and Mr. George, a young gentleman who is his uncle.

In one passage Rollo and a boy named Waldron are on a steamer. Waldron wants to go on the bridge and the forecastle, but Rollo will not, because Uncle George's rule is that he may go only where other gentlemanly passengers go. In another passage a speaker describes sailing on a lake with Ben Venue on one side, the pass of the Trossachs and Ellen's Isle, and mentions Walter Scott's poem The Lady of the Lake. In a further passage Rollo tells Waldron about an oak chest where a crown and jewels were hidden.
