About this book
Tabby by Winston K. Marks is introduced with the line that Tabby was peculiar, of course, but seemed harmless: just a little green fly that couldn't even protect itself from ordinary spiders. A letter dated April 18, 1956 and addressed Dear Ben says It breaks my heart you didn't sign on for this trip, and that there are nine of us in the expedition. A letter dated May 26, 1956 says the writer was right there on the beach when the saucer landed, which looked more like a king-size pokerchip.
A letter says Our orders are to study the bug and learn all we can, and that opinion is mixed here. A letter says the newsmen have gotten up an evening fishing derby with the crew members of the planes, and that the Tabbies bite too often as long as the sun is up. A character named Cleve says Tabby was sent to multiply and feed the arachnids.
