About this book
The book is credited to Clarence Louis Cullen. The contents list names, among others, This Wiretapper Was Color-Blind, “Whooping” a Race-Horse under the Wire, and Just Like Finding Money. The contents list also names A Race Horse That Paid a Church Debt, Card-Playing on Ocean Steamers and This Dog Knew the Game of Poker, among others.
A speaker tells of a boy he had along with his string who'd been chased off the Western licensed tracks for funny work. The speaker says he had the boy sail his good nag over the course in seven races the first ten days of the meeting, and that in the first race, with only 5 to 1 against him, the horse finished fourth. A speaker says an ace-high flush has always been good enough for him on this side of the continent, and that he bet it for all it was worth.
