About this book
The American Practical Brewer and Tanner lists, among its subjects, brewing without boiling and brewing strong Beer with the extract only of the Hop, leaving out the substance. The full title also names a simple method of preventing Beer bursting the bottle and the Bordeaux method of making and preparing Claret Wine for shipping. The text says hops should not be poled till the spring of the second year, and then not till they have been dressed.
The text names birch, elm, chestnut, and cedar, says their durability is directly the reverse of the order in which they stand, and says charring, or burning the end put into the ground, will preserve them. The text says that what follows is the French mode of tanning all kinds of leather in a short time. The text says all letters, post paid, addressed to Joseph Coppinger, 193 Duane-street, New-York, will receive attention.
