About this book
The Crisis in Russia is a work from 1920 by Arthur Ransome. The introduction says the characteristic of a revolutionary country is that change is a quicker process there than elsewhere. The introduction calls its journal of Russia in 1919 a fairly accurate picture of the state of affairs in February and March of 1919, "as I believe."
The text says nothing can be more futile than to describe conditions in Russia as a sort of divine punishment for revolution. The text says it may be taken now as certain that the majority of the Communists are in favor of individual control. The text says desertion in bulk is not uncommon, and that deserters, hurriedly enrolled to fight on the other side, re-desert when opportunity offers.
