About this book

The Dictator is credited to Stephen Marlowe. A line under the title says that Ellaby's society was a perfect democracy, where all men were equal, but that some still wanted more personal attention, and they got it. Ellaby graduated from the High Falls secondary school ten years earlier, and the four words MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED had been printed under his picture in the yearbook. Ellaby would kill the Dictator, and the text asks what comes after that: chaos, or a new order based not on modality but something else, with no one in the organization knowing for sure.

A personnel advisor asks Ellaby again why he wanted to work near the Dictator. A man Ellaby's own size sits viewing a 3D, and looks very unhappy as Ellaby points the blaster at him.
