About this book
Robin cares for foxes, rabbits, squirrels and other pets at Castle Frank, a wooden home beside a deep ravine. Stories of fairies stir his imagination, and a quiet afternoon by a pool brings an extraordinary visitor: Queen Celeste, arriving aboard a tiny ship. He accepts her invitation to a bright realm where animals talk, sing and work, with squirrels carrying messages and foxes drawing plans.
Grant Balfour combines this woodland fantasy with a school story about effort, honesty and kindness. In Robin's class, pupils compete for prizes, and Silver Ribbon's cheating brings shame and regret. The lessons take shape through animal characters, family affection and the threat of danger in the ravine. Readers of older children's fiction will find detailed fairy scenery alongside direct moral teaching, with Robin's care for living creatures linking the everyday world to the enchanted one.
