About this book
Frederic Seebohm's book is a history of the fellow-work of John Colet, Erasmus and Thomas More. One passage on More says he went to St. Anthony's School in Threadneedle Street and was placed in the household of Archbishop and Lord Chancellor Morton, who sent him to Oxford. It adds that the boy would sometimes step in among the players at Christmas, quotes Morton's remark that the child waiting at table would prove a marvellous man, and says Colet was twelve years older than More.
Another passage discusses the Vulgate and the idea of manifold senses in Scripture, and what would follow if Colet and Erasmus undermined belief in the absolute inspiration of the Scriptures. Notes cite the letters of Erasmus by volume and page.
