A mother who took her child to the house of God says, "For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him." The text says the child Samuel grew and was in favor both with the Lord and also with men. A woman prays for a child's healing, and the sweet assurance comes that her prayer was answered and that the child would grow well and strong. The text urges the reader to be charitable to children in regard to their faults and failings, so that they may learn by example to be charitable to each other and to their fellows.
